I'm at the point where I need to break down and buy a stand but with them being so dear, I don't want to get the wrong one.

I saw the Stitchers Wonder at Michael's for around $69.00. Does anyone have one, or have a prefered type/brand? (Is there one that you can clamp a hoop or Q-snap into?) I also think that it being able to rotate so you can get to the back an absolute must.

The System 4, Ergo and Gazelle 2 all work well with Q-Snaps. I have a Gazelle 2 and all I use is Q-Snaps. The Ergo and Gazelle are by Artisan and are wood. The System 4 is the most expensive and made of steel. So it really depends on your budget. I paid around $80 for my Gazelle at Hobby Lobby.

Mine is a Mark 2 from Hearthside Craftworks and I love it. Yes I paid a lot. But it's all hand crafted. I know the owners very well as the Wife now owns a stitch store in The City

I have an Ergo with the split rail stretcher bars. I also have the basic bookchart holder for it for my chart. Very sturday stand and easy to get the fabric on and off.

I am such a gadget wh$&*%. I got a system 4. I love it but it won't slide under my sofa because I have an Ikea sofa and there is a box underneath it. Then I got a Hearthside Mark 2 and they even made it wide enough to go around my recliner! They are great to deal with. Now I have just bought an Ergo and I can't wait to get that one. I will be able to use it with my sofa. Oh yeah, I also have a Lowry. I really like that one as well. I think I'm partial to the metal ones. Good luck, let us know which one you got.

I ended up going with the Gazelle2. Dummy that I am, I didn't get any scroll bars for it though! I saw on Artisan's website that they have a set with 4 different sizes, so I think I'll order that. Boy, is this an expensive hobby!

You have a good product. Hope it will meet all your stitching needs. The Artisan folks are also very nice to deal with. You are not kidding this is an expensive hobby. I just got the Chatelaine Design "Hawaiian Mandala" and the threads, beads, and fabric cost over 300$! Yikes. I can afford the pattern but I can't afford to make it.
Anyway enjoy your stand!

Any kind of scroll bar will work on the Gazelle. That's what I have, and I've never used the Artisan scrolls with it. Whatever you already have should work.

I've used all kinds with my Ergo (same clamp as the Gazelle). So any scroll bars should be fine. Although, I do like the Artisan ones!
