I have an 8 year old daughter and she sucks her thumb. I've just found out today that her teacher and her PE coach have been bothering her about it.

I recently had a conference with the teacher, and she brought up the thumb sucking. I told her that I'm not concerned about it and neither is our dentist at this point. I thought that would be the end of it, but she says her teacher keeps telling her to stop. The PE coach has been doing the same thing. I suggested that maybe...

Finished the stitching of Fern...

So why is this in Chat and not stitching? Because I'm just excited I finished the stitching of Fern! By Monday, I'd finished the dress and the body... it just took the next week to do the wings.

Of course, I got up at 5am on Tuesday and checked in to the hospital at 6am. I had surgery at 7:30am and was in my room at 3:30pm (half surgery, half recovery)... and I got discharged at 11am on Wednesday. I got discharged pretty early because I did a LOT of begging and...

I thought I would tell you all the great news! We had Merlin in the vet's office on Monday to have his blood sugar checked. He had been off insulin for a week. The great news is that the test came back fine and he gets to stay off insulin! At least for a while anyways. He'll go back in for another blood sugar check in 6 months - unless I notice him drinking like a fish or peeing like a firehose.

No more guilt!

Well, after many years of keeping my stash carefully out of sight. I have decided that I will never feel guilty again for how much money I've spent on stash! Or will ever spend on stash in the future! We built a new barn this spring and this past weekend finally started moving DH's tools and "things" from the delapidated sheds to the new barn. Why does anyone need 4 hammer drills? 5 cordless drills? 2 expensive miter box saws? and on and on and on? I could probably take...

Meet the newest member of our family! Her name is Suki and she's a Staffie/Aussie Cattle Dog cross. She's the sweetest little lady imaginable, confident and friendly but not manic, she's totally unfazed by the cats and the cats are slightly wary of her but not scared...mostly they're sitting just a few feet away watching her explore. She's flat out at
the moment - it's been an exciting afternoon for. And now commences the joy of housetraining...

Back in June, I asked my boss for this coming Friday off. I work in academia and classes started yesterday. It is our busiest week of the year. I work on the admin side - I handle accounting things (not an accountant!).

So, she said no. I cried; it's a concert we go to every year and have gone to annually since 2001. (Then I had a root canal, knee surgery, subsequently scheduled a secong surgery that is now 4 weeks and 6 days away.... holy...

Some of you might remember I mentioned before I was working on a book on fairy tales--it's a collection of scholarly/critical essays analyzing only contemporary fairy tales, basically stuff published in the last 20-30 years, and a lot of it is on writers who never seem to be written about or aren't written about too often except in journals or review articles. (Gregory Maguire for instance--there is an essay in the book on Wicked and as far as I know it might be the first LONG essay...

I posted in the forum below regarding migraines (Thank God for chicken soup). I recently had an MRI done for my migraines and they found what is called an AVM or vascular malformation in my brain. I went back today for an MRA so they could get a better look at what is going on. Of course I have been doing a lot of reading up on AVM's and it is very scary. Depending on where it is, etc. brain surgery is an option....I can't wait to find out the results of my MRA and know exactly...

I know I have been a little distracted lately... lots of morning sickness! Or should I say morning, noon, and night sickness... looking at the computer screen seems to make it worse as well!

It's due at the end of Jan.... so we are nearly half way now.... we are very pleased, though very impatient and want to meet it yesterday!

Don't know what we're having yet but I will find out this time.... ...
