Still not walking...

but close!

I had surgery on October 13th and was non-weight bearing until November 23rd, at which point I was allowed 25 pounds of weight bearing. Which became 25ish pounds (some days more, some days less). I was hoping that today, per the doctor's statement in November, that I'd be crutch free after my appointment today.

Alas, close but not yet. I've been allowed to put my full weight on my leg but I need to wear the full leg brace and use two crutches....

Was called back to the fracture clinic yesterday.
First Dr said probably a fibreglass cast next.
Sent for x rays.
Second Dr showed xrays to orthopaedic guy.
Spiral fracture right metatarsal(sp?)
Full plaster cast for five weeks.
No weight at all to be put on foot.
Leg to be elevated as much as possible.
Come back again December 30.
Me and the bed are going to become very close friends.
DH wangled me into the computer room for "essential...

So my poor DH got home from work tonight and was dutifully doing the dishes (since I'm still on crutches). A few dishes didn't wash as well as he wanted, so he went to hand wash them.

But the sink wouldn't drain.
Neither side.
Running the garbage disposal didn't fix it.
We tried to use the declogger* (brainfart on the word).

That resulted in water leaking out of the pipes in the basement.
THAT resulted in a call to a plumber for...

Party time!!!

Some of you know that my husband was laid off the week before our wedding. He's been job hunting ever since. Today we got the call and he's accepted a job in New York. We'll be moving sometime in January.

Vanessa, I'll let you know when exactly as soon as I know. Somebody will need to watch the Mermaids forum while I'm moving.

Broke my foot

I fell over yesterday and broke a bone in my right foot.I knew it was broken..PAIN!.Somehow managed to get into the house,rang ambulance,went to hospital.Am now in a wierd sort of cast.I also gouged my left knee,chin and sprained my right wrist as well

Need some advice for dealing with the school

I have an 8 year old daughter and she sucks her thumb. I've just found out today that her teacher and her PE coach have been bothering her about it.

I recently had a conference with the teacher, and she brought up the thumb sucking. I told her that I'm not concerned about it and neither is our dentist at this point. I thought that would be the end of it, but she says her teacher keeps telling her to stop. The PE coach has been doing the same thing. I suggested that maybe...

Finished the stitching of Fern...

So why is this in Chat and not stitching? Because I'm just excited I finished the stitching of Fern! By Monday, I'd finished the dress and the body... it just took the next week to do the wings.

Of course, I got up at 5am on Tuesday and checked in to the hospital at 6am. I had surgery at 7:30am and was in my room at 3:30pm (half surgery, half recovery)... and I got discharged at 11am on Wednesday. I got discharged pretty early because I did a LOT of begging and...

Diabetic cat update

I thought I would tell you all the great news! We had Merlin in the vet's office on Monday to have his blood sugar checked. He had been off insulin for a week. The great news is that the test came back fine and he gets to stay off insulin! At least for a while anyways. He'll go back in for another blood sugar check in 6 months - unless I notice him drinking like a fish or peeing like a firehose.
